Regular Council Meeting

May 4, 2020

The May council meeting was called to order by Mayor Vern Hobbs, with the following council members present: Marjorie Clement, Gloria Leiter, Tom Emery, Doug Price, Phil Eutsler, and Paul Price.


The minutes of the previous meeting were read. They were approved by Doug Price and seconded by Phil Eutsler. Motion passed.

Tom Emery moved to pay all bills. Margie Clement seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Old Business

Clem Gillespie was awarded the bid to fix the drainage problem on the Pohlman farm ground at a cost estimate of $5000.00.


Paul Price moved to pay a total of $134.50 for the purpose of purchasing the land at 15069 Evan Street. Doug Price seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Pugh reported that the newly purchased land has been added to the village’s insurance policy.


Mayor Hobbs stated that he was told by the Van Wert County Health Department that they will once again begin doing investigations when the COVID-19 mandates have eased.


Councilman Eutsler confirmed that the basketball rims have been received.


New Business

Councilman Emery shared that the Salem Presbyterian Church will have a service this Sunday, May 10th in the parking lot at 9:30a.m..


Discussion was held about applying for the Van Wert County Foundation Grant again in November for the purpose of resurfacing the basketball court. Eutsler will assemble prices for this project.


At 6:19 p.m. Paul Price moved for adjournment. Gloria Leiter seconded. Meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be June 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
