Regular Council Meeting

May 6, 2019

The April council meeting was called to order by Mayor Kimmet with the following council members present: Paul Price, Margie Clement, Gloria Leiter, and Doug Price. Craig Knapke, Phil Eutsler, Matt King Jr., and Matt King Sr. were also in attendance.


The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Gloria Leiter moved to pay all bills. Margie Clement seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Old Business

Craig Knapke from Access Engineering reported that trench patching should finish tomorrow. The same paving contractor will be milling and resurfacing Plum Street for a cost of $38,980.00. Gloria Leiter moved to approve and authorize the necessary signatures for a payment of $60,808.00 to PAB Construction. Margie Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion passed. Leiter also moved to pay Access Engineering $8,750.00. Clement seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion passed.


Three to six Spencerville High School students will be working in the village on Wednesday, May 15th for Make a Difference Day. Gloria Leiter will purchase tinted stain for the students to begin working on picnic tables and ship at the park.


New Business

Matt King Sr. showed the council plans to place a 12X24 building on his property at 15102 Main Street. Doug Price moved to allow Mr. King to move forward with his project. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. Motion carried.


After a brief discussion, Paul Price moved to pay the entire amount owed to complete the street project rather take out a loan. Doug Price seconded the motion. Motion carried.


At 7:14 p.m. Doug Price moved for adjournment. Meeting adjourned.


The next meeting will be changed to Monday, June 10, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
