Regular Council Meeting

January 3, 2018 6:30 p.m.


The January 2018 council meeting was called to order by Mayor Sarah Kimmet with the following council members present: Marjorie Clement. Also in attendance were Jason Kimmet, Jordan Young, and Stacy Adams.


To begin the meeting, the mayor read the oath of office to the following: Doug Price, Gloria Leiter, Paul Price, Jordan Young, and Tom Emery.


The minutes of the previous meeting were read, corrected, and approved.

Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Old Business

The mayor assigned the following duties to council:

Voucher Signer: Leiter, Clement, and Emery

Street Committee: Emery and D. Price

Park Committee: Clement and P.Price

Safety Committee: Leiter and Young

Access Engineering Contact: Pugh

AEP Contact: Emery


Gloria Leiter moved for Paul Price to be the council president. Margie Clement seconded the vote. Motion passed.


The following salaries were set for the 2018 fiscal year:

Council members: $40 per meeting, to be paid in December

Fiscal Officer: $325 per month, to be paid monthly

Mayor: $40 per meeting and $1000 annually, to be paid in December


The mileage is 53.5 cents per mile.

First Federal Bank is the village’s depository agent.

Meetings have been set for the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Venedocia Lions Club building, unless stated otherwise.


Stacy Adam from the Van Wert County Land Reutilization Corporation addressed the council about the village being awarded a spot in the current group of entities utilizing this corporation. Adam brought the council up-to-speed on the development and recent activities of the Land Reutilization Corporation. The village has started the process of having five structures torn down this year.


New Business

Fiscal Officer Pugh shared the 2018 appropriations with council. Doug Price made a motion to accept the appropriations as prepared. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion passed.


At 7:33 p.m. Leiter moved for adjournment. The next meeting will be February 5, 2018 at 6:30. Meeting adjourned.
