Regular Council Meeting

June 5, 2017 6:30 p.m.


The June 2017 council meeting was called to order by Mayor Sarah Kimmet with the following council members present: Tom Emery, Paul Price, Doug Price, Gloria Leiter, Marjorie Clement, and Christina Young.


The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Marjorie Clement seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Old Business

Councilman Young shared an email sent by Craig Knapke of Access Engineering Solutions. The email consisted of information concerning the current application/s that has been approved, the next grant/s that needs to be completed, and a proposal to do so. The proposal included a fee of $2500, due approximately August of 2017, for completing the 2017 CDBG Critical Infrastructure application. Christina Young moved to agree to this proposal, and Tom Emery seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote indicated. Motion passed.


Following with the same topic, Pugh stated that a special revenue fund needed to be created for the purpose of receiving and tracking grant money from the resurfacing project. Auditor of State bulletin 99-006 outlines the need for such fund. Gloria Leiter moved to request approval from the Auditor of State for the special revenue fund. Christina Young seconded the motion. Motion passed.


More discussion was held concerning the state of the village. Residents are reminded that all vehicles on their property are to be outfitted with current licensure and registration, or covered.


New Business

The mayor shared that she had received questions about what was being mowed in the village. Council members spoke up stating that the work Doug and Paul Price are doing looks very nice, and residents are reminded that this service is being done for the village for free. Doug Price volunteered to speak with anyone that had a question about the mowing.


Pugh shared a letter from the Van Wert Board of Elections reminding the following council members that their terms are up at the end of this year: Emery, D. Price, Leiter, and P. Price.


The fiscal officer shared that the new village computer is due to arrive tomorrow. Interest in the current laptop was shown by a few. Ohio Revised Code 721.15 will be consulted for the process of clearing said computer.


When asked, Councilman Clement noted that lights at the park had been zip-tied because the lights were being left on all night.


Pugh stated that the 2018 budget will be prepared for the July meeting. It was recommended that money be set aside for catch-basin cleaning.


At 7:19 p.m. Christina Young moved for adjournment. The next meeting has been changed due to the Fourth of July holiday. It will be Monday, July 10, 2017. Meeting adjourned.
