Village of Venedocia

Venedocia Lions Club January 7, 2013

The January 2013 meeting was called to order by Mayor Larry Eutsler with the following council members present: Lee Lare, Chad Pugh, Christina Young, Robert Louth, Paul Price, and Gloria Leiter. Also in attendance were village residents: Tom and Megan Theobald, and Jay Young.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

The 2013 Appropriations were read by the fiscal officer, as well as the Certificate of the Total Amount from all Resources available for Expenditures, and Balances. Christina Young moved to accept both documents. Robert Louth seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote. Motion passed.

The Mayor assigned the following members as signers for the 2013 year: Lee Lare, Robert Louth, and Gloria Leiter.

Paul Price moved to pay all bills. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. Motion carried.


Mayor Eutlser appointed the following people:

Custodian: Kim Coil

Zoning Inspector: Larry Eutsler

Mower: Jim Grant

Park Committee: Lee Lare and Gloria Leiter

Safety Committee: Chad Pugh and Christina Young

Streets Committee: Robert Louth and Paul Price


Old Business

Gloria Leiter moved to buy a new radio for the village. Lee Lare seconded the motion. Motion carried.


The mayor presented a letter from ODOT stating they are not responsible for the curb job across from the church; however a permit is not needed for the project. The mayor will ask a church trustee how much money is being sought from the village, as well as invite a trustee to come talk to the council about the project.


Tom Theobald asked council to consider posting signs indicating the speed limit going out of town to help reduce the number of speeding motorists through town.


New Business

Van Wert County EMA director, Rick McCoy, reported to Mayor Eutsler that a new siren will be placed in the village soon. Gloria Leiter will be calling McCoy to inquire about dates for AED/CPR recertification classes. The classes are 2 hours in length and will cost the participant $7.50. A date in March is desired.


J. Pugh read a summary of the fire contract between the Village and the Middle Point Fire Department. Gloria Leiter moved to enter into such agreement. Christina Young seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken with a unanimous ‘yes’ vote given. Motion passed.


It was determined that all regular council meetings will be on the first Monday of every month, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Venedocia Lions Club.
