Old Business

Mayor Eutsler reported that the village clean up day was very successful. He noted Barry Coil as being quite supportive and helpful throughout the process. Three dumpsters were filled.

New Business

On a similar note, the Salem Presbyterian Church Youth Group is scheduled to clean the streets on Wednesday, May 16th.

Councilman Leiter will contact Scott Gordon to attend the June council meeting for the purpose of discussing houses with sizeable amounts of junk around them.

Pugh discussed the suggestion of putting a 1.2 mil renewal levy on the up-coming November ballot. The levy would be for five years and generate approximately $1,180.00 per year. Christina Young moved to proceed with the renewal. Gloria Leiter seconded the motion. A roll-call vote was taken and passed unanimously. Motion passed.

Grant writer, Ron Puthoff, spoke to council about grant money available through the Ohio Public Works Commission Funding. He stated that smaller surrounding villages were taking advantage of these monies. The initiative for this year’s grant would be for pavement overlays. The village would be responsible for 10% of the project cost plus the engineering costs, which includes Mr. Puthoff’s fees. The application is due in September. The project would not begin before July 2013; therefore money should be set aside on the up-coming budget for this project. Lee Lare moved to proceed with the application process. Paul Price seconded the motion. Motion carried. It was discussed that any drainage issues should be uncovered before the project begins.

Paul Price moved for adjournment.

Chad Pugh seconded the motion.

The next meeting will be June 4, 2012.
