Gloria Leiter reported information from the Natural Hazard Mitigation Meeting that she attended last month.  She asked for feedback on three issues.  After some discussion it was decided that the categories of ‘severe storms’ and ‘tornadoes’ were the top priority natural disasters that occur in the village.  Second, the Salem Presbyterian Church is designated as the disaster area site for the village.  And lastly, Charlie Good moved to hold a contest to design a village logo.  Paul Price seconded the motion.  Motion carried.  All drawings must be submitted by September 13th.  A cash prize of $25.00 will be given for the best drawing (to be voted on by the council).  A notice of this contest will be posted in the Post Office and fliers will be handed out around the village.  All entries must be submitted by residents of the Village of Venedocia.

It was recommended that the Middle Point Fire Department be contacted to bring water over to check the east end drains now that the county has fixed the ditch blockage.  Mayor Ruen will call Middle Point and Bruns.

It was noted that the town water pumps do not work.  Charlie Good will look into this problem.

Mayor Ruen reported that the Van Wert County Budget Commission will meet on August 23 for the purpose of discussing the distribution of the 2004 “County Library and Local Government Support Fund.”
