Village of Venedocia Council Meeting

 

 

Venedocia Lions Club                                                      May 3, 2004

 

Mayor Ruen called the meeting to order with council members Charlie Good, Gloria Leiter, Paul Price and Robert Louth present.

 

The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

 

The bills were presented as follows:

Paul Price moved to pay all bills.  Robert Louth seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Old Business

Church is scheduled to clean the village streets on Wednesday, May 5th.

 

Charlie Good reported that the basket at the softball diamond has been cleaned out.  It will be given to Jason Lloyd or Tommy Evans. 

 

There was a suggestion made to use the grit from this winter to fill in holes in the streets.

 

New Business

It was stated that the concrete cylinders stored behind the old Flat Lands building are available to the county, state, or individuals.  It is on a first come, first serve basis.

 

President of Council, Robert Louth, expressed that village residents are concerned that the Mayor’s phone number is not available.  After some discussion, it was decided that all council members’ and the Mayor’s phone numbers will be posted in the post office.

 

Mayor Ruen asked if he should pursue another Van Wert County Foundation grant to improve the park and playground area.  Council members agreed that he should go forth with the grant.

 

There was a discussion of various street sign issues in the village:  Whittington may be spelled incorrectly, Charlie will investigate this further, Evans street sign is missing and a stop sign was found laying on the ground.

 

Jenny Pugh asked for the council’s permission to enter into an agreement with the state auditor’s office to use the Uniform Accounting Network to expedite clerical work.  The cost per month to the village should be approximately $39.00.  Paul Price moved to enter into this agreement.  Gloria Leiter seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

 

Due to the July 4th holiday, the regularly scheduled July meeting will be moved to July 12, 2004. 

 

The next meeting will be on June 7, 2004.

 

Paul Price moved to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned.
